June Plans: Working and Working Out

Well folks, I’ve got quite an exciting month ahead. My plans include: going to work and going to the gym. And other than blogging... that is about it.

Jealous yet?

The Craziest Kickboxing Challenge Yet

If you’ve stopped by here before (or we’ve hung out recently), you’re probably aware that in late December of 2016 I joined a kickboxing gym. I kicked off the year 2017 (no pun intended) by participating in a 45 day challenge that encouraged everyone to go to kickboxing class at least three times a week for the first month and a half of the new year. Somewhat surprisingly (since I’m naturally pretty gym-averse), I made it through the challenge and it helped me turn kickboxing regularly into a habit.

Since it's the first official month of summer, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that my kickboxing gym has come up with another challenge… but this one is quite frankly INSANE. From June 5 to June 30 (26 days), the challenge is to go to class 20 times. Since I’m headed out for my next trip in July and don’t have any trips planned this month, I naturally thought, "Why not?" and signed myself up for the challenge.

What in the world was I thinking?

Luckily, I have several good friends who go to the same gym as me, so we’ll try to keep each other on track… and if you don’t see me around here on the blog, it’s probably because I’m either kickboxing or asleep.

Solid social life I have on my hands right now.

The Craziest Month of Work Yet

As previously mentioned here on the blog, the month of May sucked (and I couldn’t be more happy that it is over… time for a clean slate!) While I’m trying to leave most of the May drama in the month of May where it belongs, there is one pesky factor I can’t seem to get rid of. Since I got back from my most recent trip to Austria, Germany and Hungary in April, my department at work has been SLAMMED. Every time I think we’re making progress and will finally get ahead, more work piles in.

On June 1st, I celebrated my one year anniversary at the Nashville nonprofit where I work (Can you believe it has already been a year since I had that am-I-really-staying-in-Nashville crisis? Me neither.) Since starting last year, this April to June is probably the most consistently busy stretch of time we’ve had at work. I’m hoping that we’ll be able to get ahead of it once and for all this month… wish me luck!

In a nutshell, if you’re looking for me this June, I’m probably working or working out.

What have you got planned for the first month of summer? Hoping it is something exciting… feel free to share in the comments!
